Let Steve entertain you

May 14th, 2014 — Festival of St/Eve

A veritable array of quality entertainment will be on offer at your Festival of Steve this year, bringing the unique combination of music, comedy, presentations, gentlemanly activities and exhibitors together on Saturday 24th of May at the iconic Kelvin Club from midday until 8pm. It’s going to be a great day out.

Taking to the stage* downstairs at midday is Jason Walker, a singer songwriter dude from Sydney. ARIA nominated Jason and his pedal steel guitar have toured with dozens of Australian and international acts, including Old Man River and Youth Group. Following Jason on the bill is alt-country musician and total babe Cat Canteri, best know as the singer/songwriter/drummer of The Stillsons, with the closing act a jazz extravaganza performed by that amazing bird Rebecca Barnard and the Romantics.

At 4pm, award-winning comic Andrew McClelland will take to the mic. Well versed in the art of entertainment from his appearances on television shows including Spicks and Specks and The Chaser’s War On Everything, McClelland has been awarded the Comedian’s Choice Award and Crikey’s Best of the Fest Award at The Melbourne Comedy Festival**. His show One Man Stand is rather entertaining and we suggest you get yourself a seat in the President’s Room early so as not to miss this.

Funny man Andrew McClelland

An impressive line-up of speakers will be introduced by Fiona Sweetman of Hidden Secrets Tours as she MCs the President’s Room for presentations includingWristwatch Appreciation 101, by Felix from The Tailored Watch. As Melbourne’s wristwatch guru, Felix will share his professional insights on the wristwatch as an expression of style, taste and personality. Melbourne City Rooftop Honey will talk all things bees, and some of the finest menswear businesses in the greater Melbourne will share their collective wealth of knowledge including V&J Menswear, Oscar Hunt and Carl Nave.

For those intrigued or obsessed by cycling the team from Cycles Galleria will exhibit the latest in cycling products and technologies.

Recover from the excitement by perusing the curated offerings of Melbourne’s independent bookshops Hill of Content, Classic Comics and The Little Bookroom. Steve really has catered for everyone.

Festival goers in the market for new skills will be shown how to expertly pocket the ball with guidance from Steve’s resident billiards ace, or master the art of betting with poker tips dispensed by a pro. Dale Campisi, author and co-owner of Melbournalia will teach you how to shop. Yes, you read that right. HOW TO SHOP. You cannot afford to miss this gents***.

The Festival of Steve is presented by City Precinct, an organisation of local small businesses, to showcase our delightful members.

Entry is free, but Steve would encourage you to make a donation to beyondblue at the door.

So come along why don’t you, get your hair cut or your beard trimmed**** by Steve’s main man Sammy at Men + Co, buy your best pal a beer, snack on some dude food prepared in a manly fashion by Kelvin’s chefs and generally just enjoy yourself. See you there chaps.
