August 18th, 2019 — Festival of St/Eve
Handcrafted contemporary mens jewellery, designer cufflinks and art
Lord Coconut stocks over 600 individual jewellery pieces and represents over 40 Melbourne and interstate jewellers, artisans and designers. The undeniably unique Lord Coconut is Melbourne’s only retailer, gallery, and online boutique selling contemporary jewellery designed with men in mind.
Lord Coconut offers men cufflinks, rings, necklaces, bracelets, cuffs, brooches, lapel pins, tie bars and tie pins.
During the Festival of ST/EVE, Lord Coconut will feature the following artists:
Zora Bell Boyd
Inspired by life’s environments and the glint of nature’s gems, Zora handworks all her pieces often casting one-offs direct from nature. Zora works in sterling silver, gold and natural stones along with a passion for recycling gold and rough stone cutting.
Nerea Li Santi
Nerea’s art is born out of watching mum make pretty things and playing with dad’s mechanic tools.
After working for many years with precious stones Gillian has returned to an exploration of texture in metals. Altering and disturbing the play of light can redefine a piece and give it a whimsical and eye catching air. Interesting surface patterns, from brushed, to matt and finely grained, or scribed textures give her classic gold and silver designs a contemporary edge. Oxidised elements add depth and another dimension to her memorable pieces which have been enthusiastically collected for many years by jewellery lovers. Every now and then an amazing gem will appear, as her passion for beautiful stones such as opal, unusual sapphires, beryls and tourmalines has not abated. Her simple, yet unusual designs have a longevity that is timeless.
Ali’s jewellery is usually made with silver or gold, sometimes with pearls, mixing non-precious materials with the precious. Although she would love to be, Ali is not a bench jeweler: instead she makes her work in wax first; it is then cast and finished by others. Working full time in the technology department at an Officeworks store and living in a flat in the centre of the city gives Ali ideas for her designs Words feature in a lot of Ali’s pieces and also in her collecting. She has a small collection of sweetheart jewellery (made by troops during war) and collects autographs where people write, talk or sing about “they”. Ali likes to think that her jewellery is comfortable to wear, if not always effortless for the wearer, the vase brooch looks best filled with water and flowers, and the label jewellery has to have a label printed and attached by the owner.
