Nestled at the West end of Bourke Street Melbourne is the CBD’s only social enterprise Café and Catering service, Kinfolk.
Now in its 10th year of operation, Kinfolk café not only provides great coffee and fresh, lovingly-crafted meals using locally-sourced produce, but also a dynamic environment that promotes social inclusion through its impactful volunteer and charity initiatives.
Through its catering operations, Kinfolk nurtures, trains and empowers individuals from challenging circumstances. This alone has created remarkable social impact with 76% percent of volunteers who were actively seeking jobs in 2018, now successfully employed.
Kinfolk’s social impact extends to small businesses and community groups, by offering light-filled, bright spaces ideal to run workshops, team meetings, conferences, presentations, product launches, weddings, parties and private events.
An additional space called The Subway is also available for hire, offering a quirky, interesting underground function area housed in the historic former Omnibus and Tramways building.
Event catering through Kinfolk ensures fresh innovative menus curated by in-house chefs and utilising local organic ingredients and fair-trade products. Kinfolk also abides by an ethos of ethical and sustainable produce and use of re-usable or biodegradable crockery and cutlery.
A five-minute walk from Southern Cross Station with a convenient tram stop for the 86 and 96 trams directly outside, Kinfolk café is a beautiful little gem located in the heart of Melbourne CBD.
Whether you are stopping by for a meal or hiring a space for your event, you are assured a memorable experience with the support of passionate, community-focused people. Kinfolk is a social enterprise that truly cares for and loves all of its staff, volunteers, partners, suppliers and customers, just as Melburnians love their coffee.
