Premium coffee, alongside sumptuous food prepared with organic, local produce in a heritage warehouse in one of Melbourne's oldest laneways.

The design concept behind Krimper was to allow the history of the building define its own character and tell its own story. While this sounds simple and easy, nothing could be further from the truth.

The interior design uses minimal lighting against water-blasted brick wall and Japanese-stained ply creates the sense of a warm and welcoming hearth.

The café tables and chairs are made from recycled lift doors and old timber pieces that were obtained on site.

The dis-used, 100-year-old lift car and mechanical wheels are used to recreate an inside dining booth, which has become a key feature of the café and the space area.

Overall the cleverly “unfinished”, rough and rustic detailing creates an early-industrial-era warehouse café, unique in character, human in its sensibility and a place that respects the perfection that is inherent within imperfection.
