Little Brixton aims to bring you the best in marinades and sauces. Respecting the culture and the history that inspired us to create Little Brixton.
In 1948, the Empire Windrush was en route from Australia to England via the Atlantic, docking in Kingston, Jamaica. An advert had appeared in a Jamaican newspaper offering cheap transport on the ship for anybody who wanted to come and work in the UK.
Brixton was the epicentre for those coming from the Caribbean and so it started the meshing of cultures UK and Caribbean.
Each marinade or sauce has a story, which is part is connected to my family. From Hayter Road to Coldharbour Lane there is a reason each product came into being, The landmarks are real and the stories are based in the 60’s and 70’s at a time where the West Indian community was establishing itself in Brixton, London and it was all about togetherness, great food and fantastic parties.
