How we ran walking tours to bring people back to the CBD

Share:

In the Summer of 2021 we hosted 3 walking tours with 40 individual sessions. These tours brought in over 200 people to the Melbourne CBD. By this standard, they were a huge success.

This was the second year we hosted Summertime tours. In 2020 we held four sessions which brought in 40 people.

Our three tours were: Secret Melbourne Revealed, hosted by Depot Adventures. This tour explored the hidden side of Melbourne. From cocktail bars, coffee shops & street art.

Laneways, Small Shops & Arcades, hosted by Amble, an exploration of Melbourne’s laneways & arcades, and a chance to meet the small retailers that live there.

And Sketch the City, hosted by Laneway Learning, an urban sketching adventure.

All of the tours routes visited registered City Precinct Members, where our tours guides were able to showcase their businesses.

We also purchased over $7000 worth of gifts from precinct members, which were then handed out to guests at the end of the tour.

We recieved a lot of positive feedback from the tours. You can read our Tripadvisor reviews here. Also find some e-mail feedback below.

“I was one of the people that dd a walking sketching tour, and I really enjoyed it. The lady who took the tour was very knowledgeable about the best places to sketch, and helped me with my so called sketches!”

“I just wanted to thank the team for my lovely box of gifts that I have received. I enjoyed the walking tour and have continued to visit the shops on the tour.  I love Melbourne so much and I am happy to slowly see the city come back to life.”

“Thank you very much for the gift which we received as an extension of our city tour which was very interesting and it gave us quite fascinating”
